CATALYST FOR HYDRO-DESULFURIZATION/HYDRODENITRIFICATION OF HEAVY HYDROCARBON OIL

PURPOSE:To enhance hydro-desulfurization/hydro-denitrification activity, by supporting a specific amount of metals of the Group VIa and Group VIII of the Periodic Table and phosphorus by an alumina carrier of which the pore distribution and average pore size take specific range values. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst carrier is formed based on alumina having an average pore size of 100-150Angstrom in pore distribution measured by a nitrogen gas adsorbing method and having a pore characteristic such that the volume of pores with an average pore size range of + or -50Angstrom is 70% or more of a volume occupied by pores with a pore size of 0-600Angstrom . The aforementioned catalyst carrier is immersed in a catalyst component aqueous solution containing a compound of a metal of the Group VI a of the Periodic Table, a compound of a metal of the Group VIII of the Periodic Table and a phosphorus compound and, after drying, the impregnated carrier is baked at 500-700 deg.C for about 2hr to prepare a catalyst for hydro-desulfurization/hydro-denitrification supporting 4-14wt% of a metal of the Group VIa of the Periodic Table, 1.5-5wt% of a metal of the Group VIII of the Periodic Table and 0.5-3wt% of phosphorus.
