PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetostatic field generator, through which the picture images of a head section and an infant having excellent picture quality, by generating an air layer on the boundary surface of a magnet and a pole piece and mounting or dismantling a pair of pole pieces or one pole piece. CONSTITUTION:When a pole piece 2 is supplied with high-pressure air, the piece 2 is slid downward by projections 19 and grooves 18 in support fittings 11 and stopped by a stoppers in lower end sections 20, and brought to the state in which it is detached from a magnet 1. The piece 2 is moved up to a predetermined position by a motor 14, a chain 13 and struts 12, 12', and the piece 2 is fast stuck to the magnet 1 by the magnet 1 when the supply of high-pressure air is stopped at the position. Accordingly, a magnetostatic field generator through which the picture images of a head section and an infant having excellent picture quality are formed is acquired.
