PURPOSE:To provide a non-ribbon type thermal transfer recording method by which high-speed recording can be performed and which is low in running cost, by a method wherein a recording paper is brought into proximity to or contact with an opening part of a reinforcing plate of a recording head in which a dye reservoir opened at a bottom part is integrally provided on a protective layer, and a heat generating resistor layer is supplied with an electric current according to an image signal to generate heat. CONSTITUTION:An activated metal, e.g., Cr is sputtered onto a metallic reinforcing plate 3, e.g., a steel plate having a thickness of 0.1mm to provide a heat generating resistor layer 2 having a thickness of 1000-3000Angstrom and a resistance of about 50-70OMEGA/square. A driving IC 12 for applying a voltage to the resistor layer 2 according to an electrical signal is provided on an insulating layer 1, and is connected with the resistor layer by a lead layer 4. The resistor layer 2 is provided with through-holes by photo-etching so as to match with through-holes 14 previously provided. On the lead layer, SiO2 and Ta2O5 are deposited in respective thicknesses of about 1mum and about 2-3mum by sputtering to provide a protective layer 5, and a dye reservoir 6 is provided thereon by adhesion or the like. Finally, the reinforcing plate is provided with an opening part 11 larger than the through-holes 14 by photo-etching. |
