PURPOSE:To enable the detection of a residual bill on takeout means by providing detecting means for detecting a paper sheet and the like remaining on the takeout means through an open/close member which opens and closes the inducting side of the takeout means. CONSTITUTION:In the takeout time, when a bill P and the like has been thrown onto a setting table 13 with the two-folded, four-folded or curled state, the bill remains on a takeout roller 17. In this time, since a bill stopper 23 is in contact with the residual bill P and can not stand up even through intends to stand up, a photo-sensor 34 is not shielded by 2 shielding plate 32 of a rotary plate 27, and do not get dark in spite of demagnetization of a drive solenoid 31, thereby remaining of the two-folded bill P is detected. Thus, it is possible to prevent the counting error of the bill P, because the deformation bill P remaining on the takeout roller 17 can be detected.
