The invention relates to a convertible lounge or garden seat, that is to say a seat which can be used indoors as well as outdoors and can be converted to obtain a plurality of sitting positions or to form a piece of furniture for a different purpose, such as a child's cradle. It consists of two rectangular frames 1, fitted with sloping notches 6-6', of cross-bracing elements 2 which connect the frames 1, of two crossbars 3 provided with notches 7, and of a canvas 4. The conversion is obtained according to the horizontal or vertical position of the frames 1, according to the position of the crossbars 3 on the frames 1, and according to the winding of the canvas 4 around the crossbars 3.
