PURPOSE:To efficiently transfer electrostatically charged photoconductive toner grains and to improve the contrast of a toner image by electrostatically transferring the charged toner image in a toner layer to a transfer medium under a condition applying mechanical vibration to a base. CONSTITUTION:The conductive base 1 is connected to a reverse piezoelectric element 7 and an electric signal from an oscillator 8 is amplified by an amplifier 9 and supplied to the element 7, so that vertical and mechanical vibration is applied to the surface of the base 1. When the back of a transfer medium 5 is charged with the reverse polarity against that of the charge of photoconductive toner 4 under the mechanically vibrated condition, the toner 4 is transferred to the surface of the medium 5. Since the charged photoconductive toner grains are separated from an area managed by dispersion force to an area managed by electrostatic force by the inertia force of mechanical vibration, the toner grains can be efficiently moved up to the medium 5 along the external electric field. |
