PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material having higher sensitivity and higher preservability by incorporating core/shell type silver iodobromide emulsion together with a compd. having a specified thiazole ring and/or an N-contg. heterocyclic compd. CONSTITUTION:Core/shell type silver iodobromide emulsion having higher content of AgI in the core and less content of AgI in the shell is incorporated in a silver halide emulsion layer. Further, a thiazole compd. or benzothiazole compd. expressed by the formula I, and/or an N-contg. heterocyclic compd. expressed by the formula II is (are) incorporated also. In the formulas, Q is a nonmetallic atom group forming a thiazole ring or a benzothiazole ring together with S and N atoms; X is an electron attractive group; Y is H, aliphatic group, aromatic group, etc.; Z<1> and Z<2> are nonmetallic atom groups forming 5-, 6-membered heterocyclic rings; Y<1> and Y<2> are H, or a substituting group. Since such core/shell type silver iodobromide emulsion and a heterocyclic compd. expressed by the formula I or II are incorporated in a photosensitive material, generation of fog in the material is inhibited and the sensitivity of the material is improved. |
