SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL HAVING IMPROVED SHARPNESS AND DESILVERING CHARACTERISTIC

PURPOSE:To improve a negative silver halide color sensitive material to have high sharpness by incorporating a phenolic cyan coupler into a silver halide emulsion layer, incorporating also a compd. for forming unsharp positive picture image thereto. CONSTITUTION:A phenolic cyan coupler expressed by the formula is incorporated into a silver halide emulsion layer. In the formula, R1 is aryl or heterocyclic group; R2 is a ballast group; X is H or a group eliminated by the coupling with an oxidized body of an arom. primary amine type color developer. A compd. for forming an unsharp positive picture image is also incorporated. The compd. forms a nondiffusion dye by the reaction with an oxidized body of the color developing agent, and the formed compd. has main absorption region in the main absorption wavelength region of the dye formed from the oxidized body of the color developing agent. Since the compd. expressed by the formula and compd. for forming an unsharp positive picture image are contained in the photosensitive material, the sharpness and the desilvering characteristic of the material are improved.
