PURPOSE:To prevent aggregation of titanium oxide in application or in immersion and form a uniform impregnated layer, by using both a liquid composition containing titanium oxide particles and a liquid composition containing aspartic acid or an asparate (ASP for short) but not titanium oxide. CONSTITUTION:A liquid composition containing titanium oxide particles but not ASP is applied to or immersed in a porous liquid developing layer to form a layer. Then a liquid composition which contains ASP but not titanium oxide particles is used adjacently or through another layer to form another layer at the remote side from the face of the liquid developing layer to which a test specimen solution is fed. This developing layer is formed on a substrate such as polyethylene terephthalate polystyrene, etc., and may be combined with a reagent layer, an adhesive layer, a filtration layer, a water absorption layer, an undercoating layer, etc., to give a multi-layer. Since the application or immersion of ASP and titanium oxide is carried out separately, an analytical element having uniform performance can be formed.
