PURPOSE:To improve suction efficiency by providing a reed valve of a two-cycle engine with a member which comes into contact with the reed valve when the engine runs at high speeds thereby making the movable length of the reed valve variable according to the revolution of the engine. CONSTITUTION:In the neighborhood of a fixed part 20 of a reed valve 21 of a two-cycle engine are arranged adjustment cams 22a and 22b each provided with a cut 23. When an engine runs at low speeds, the adjustment cams 22a and 22b are positioned as shown in the figure and do not come into contact with the reed valves 21 and therefore the movable length of the reed valve becomes long extending from the valve tip to the fixed part 20. When the engine rung at high speeds on the other hand, the adjustment cams 22a and 22b are made to turn and to come into contact with the side surfaces of the reed valves 21. That makes the movable length of the reed valves 21 shorter and suitable for high speed revolution.
