PURPOSE:A composition for the oral cavity, containing dextranase and N- palmitoyl- and/or N-myristoylsarcosine salt together, having synergistically enhanced inhibitory effect on formation of bacterial plaques and improved preventive effect on dental caries or periodontosis. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing (A) an N-palmitoylsarcosine salt and/or N-myristoylsarcosine salt and (B) dextranase having alpha-1,6-glucosidase activity together. The amounts of the respective ingredients based on the total composition are preferably within the range of 0.0005-5wt%, praticularly 0.001-1.5wt% ingredient (A) and 0.001-2wt%, particularly 0.01-1wt% ingredient (B) expressed in terms of 1,000,000 units/g. The blending weight ratio (A/B) of both ingredients is within the range of 1:400-200:1 for surely exhibiting the synergistic inhibitory action of both on bacterial plaques.
