PURPOSE:To enable execution of reliable restarting, by a method wherein, when the temperature of fuel in a fuel system exceeds a set value, through opening of an on-off valve prior to the starting, high temperature fuel is discharged from the fuel system to replace fuel in a fuel tank with the high temperature fuel. CONSTITUTION:Fuel in a fuel tank 1 is pressurized with the aid of a fuel pump 4, and through regulation of a fuel pressure by means of a pressure regulator 7, the fuel is injected through an injection valve 6 into an intake air passage 11. In which case, a discharge line 10, bypassing the pressure regulator 7 and having an on-off valve 9, is connected to a return line 8. By means of an electric signal inputted from a temperature sensor 12 to a control unit 14, a fuel temperature is decided, and a control switch 16, closed during a time in which the key switch of an engine is set in a start position or during a previously set time, is situated in a driving line 17 of the on-off valve 9. With this constitution, when the temperature of fuel in a fuel system exceeds a set value, by opening the on-off valve 9 in prior to the starting, high temperature fuel is discharged from the fuel system to replace fuel in the fuel tank 1 with the high temperature fuel.
