PURPOSE:To timely attain the access of front/rear sides and to reduce the access time at program search by seeking the next request disk while a preceding requested disk is reproduced or read. CONSTITUTION:A read/write recording or reproducing means is arranged in a cylindrical carrousel 10, and if storage means A... of, e.g., n-set of disks 8 exist in the carrousel 10, a reproducing (recording) medium (disk) is loaded only to n/2 sets of storage means among n-set of disk storage means A.... Then the disk storage means on an opposite line of the disk storage means loaded with the disk 8 is made vacant and at the time of the preceding disk is in read or recording (R/W) state, the next request disk is arranged at a prescribed location and while the preceding disk is ejected, the next request disk is loaded. Further, a means turning the carrousel 10 by 180 deg. is provided so as to apply R/W to both the front and rear sides of the disk.
