NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is 2-bromoethoxy, 2- chloroethoxy, 2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy, 3-bromopropoxy, etc.; R1 is H, acetyl, propionyl, n-octanyl, etc.). EXAMPLE:N-[2,2,2-Trichloro-1-(2-chloroethoxy)ethyl]-5-chlorosalicylamide. USE:A fungicide having wide antifungal spectrum against various plant pathogenic fungii especially effective for downy mildew of cucumber, late blight of tomato, gray mold by kidney beans, powdery mildew of wheat, brown rust, etc. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula II is reacted with an alcohol in a solvent such as benzene, etc., in the presence of triethylamine at room temperature for 30min- several hours while stirring to give a compound shown by formula I.
