PURPOSE:To obtain high output when recording and reproducing are executed in combination with a narrow gap ring head and to permit good high-density recording by mixing 3 kinds of magnetic powders which are planar and having the directions of easy magnetization in the directions specific with the plate plane, incorporating such mixture into a magnetic layer and orienting the magnetic powders in such a manner that the plate planes are made approximately parallel with the plane of the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:At least >=2 kinds of the magnetic powders selected from the magnetic powder which is planar and has the direction of easy magnetization in the direction inclined by 5-50 deg. from the direction perpendicular to the plate plane, the magnetic powder which is planar and has the direction of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the plate plane and the magnetic powder which is planar and has the direction of easy magnetization in the direction parallel with the plate plane are mixed and such mixture is incorporated into the magnetic layer. These magnetic powders are so oriented that the plate planes thereof are made approximately parallel with the plane of the magnetic layer. For example, hexagonal ferrite powder which is planar and has the direction of easy magnetization in the direction inclined by 5-50 deg. from the direction perpendicular to the plate plane is preferably used as such magnetic powders. |
