The invention relates to an automatic apparatus for checking the electrical properties of multicore cables. This portable apparatus consists of a case 1 including at least two connecting sockets 3 for the cables to be checked, a display unit 10 and a switch 7 which connects the cable and supplies the sequential data entering at A and E. The electronic device used comprises a logic circuit oscillator 17 which sends pulses via the contactor 16 to a selector 18 directing them to the input of the first decimal counter 19 as soon as the zero reset 9 of the beginning of the cycle is carried out. At the end of the capacity of the said counter 19, the pulse is directed to a logic invertor 22 via the logic selector 18 which controls the following counter 23 which will in turn act through the same circuits. The data via the switch 7 is directed either to the insulation test circuit 24 or to the continuity test circuit 20, whose output is connected to a logical memory system 21. <IMAGE>
