The conveyor according to the invention comprises two parallel endless chains 3a intended to transport the articles 1, and retention means 4 for preventing the articles from coming up against one another during their transportation, these means being mounted pivotably on shafts 9a perpendicular to the chains. The retention means 4 have an axis of symmetry intersecting their lower and upper faces. Levers 10 mounted pivotably on shafts located in the vertical planes P1 containing the pivoting shafts 9a of the retention means 4 comprise, on either side of their axis of pivoting, a counterweight 12 and a finger 14 advancing under a surface of the downstream part of the associated retention means.
