In order to reaccelerate a heat engine after a period of deceleration, the engine during the deceleration draws in air through a complementary intake 1 and drives it 8 into a reservoir 7, from which this air will be reinjected 12 to 17 into the normal intake of the engine in order to supercharge it as soon as the throttle is reopened. Operation requires that the engine remains under load, in gear, during the deceleration. The invention enables the engine quickly to regain speed and, a high torque and to offer great flexibility even at the lowest turning speeds, avoiding the dead period when accelerating. <IMAGE>
