Fast correlator for target acquisition of hostile objects using mechanical, acoustic or electromagnetic waves emitted or reflected by them

A fast correlator for target acquisition is described, and avoids the deficiencies which are known according to the state of the art (long computer times for calculation of correlation coefficients based on serial computing procedures) because the correlation coefficients are calculated by logical linkage of the contents of the memory positions of clocked shift registers, which contain the probability functions of the signals to be correlated. The trend of the "correlogram", from which the time offset is calculated by discriminators, is already established after one pass (about 1 m/s), so that fighting the enemy can begin.
