The invention relates to a slatted shutter or door having a plurality of slats which extend over the door width and are fastened individually to laterally guided conveying chains and which, in a closing position, stand one on the other in a clamping manner and, in the opening position, are suspended in line one behind the other in magazine rails arranged behind a building lintel or a panel, in which slatted shutter or door the slats have, in the region of the upper slat edge, slat bolts which are connected to the conveying chains guided in vertical guide rails, and in which slatted shutter or door the vertical guide rails merge into the magazine rails via deflecting devices designed as chain wheels, the chain wheels transferring the ends of the slat bolts into the magazine rails. A fault-free transfer of the slats, suspended only via the slat bolts, in the region of the deflecting devices is achieved in that there are attached in the region above the deflecting devices retaining devices which, when the slatted shutter or door is being opened and closed, during the transfer of the slats via the deflecting devices which each come into cooperation with the upper edge of the transferred slat and pivot the latter in such a way that the lower edge pivots away from the vertical guide rails during opening and pivots in towards the vertical guide rails during closing.
