A board game is provided in which playing pieces are moved into a goal in a predetermined manner, and have to overcome barriers in doing so. Both the playing pieces and the barriers contain permanent magnets. By changing the relationship of the magnetic polarities of the playing pieces to the magnetic polarities of the barriers, the course of the game can be influenced.
