A pump has a piston (13) which is movable to and fro inside a piston housing (5). The fluid to be pumped can be supplied to a part of this piston space (26) via a valve arrangement (20). Also provided inside the pump housing (2) is a storage space (11) which can be connected via a second valve arrangement (8, 9) to the piston space (26) which is accessible for the fluid.
