PURPOSE:To attain the loading/unloading of a hard disk cassette in the same sense as a floppy disk by securing such a constitution where the hard disk cassette can be freely loaded to and unloaded from the main body of a hard disk device and the disk device is actuated when the disk cassette is loaded to the disk device. CONSTITUTION:When a hard disk cassette 7 is loaded to the main body of a hard disk device, a drive mechanism control circuit 12 is connected to a system control part 15 via a connection part 11. Thus the transmission/reception is possible with various recording and reproducing signals. Then the recording signal, the recording control signal or the reproduction control signal is applied to the circuit 12 from the part 15 while the cassette 7 is loaded to the disk device. The circuit 12 actuates a medium and a head drive mechanism 13 to record signals to a hard disk 14 or to read signals out of the disk 14 and supplies the reproduction signal to the part 15. When the cassette 7 is replaced, the connection is released at the part 11 between the cassette 7 and the part 15 when the cassette 7 is taken out of the hard disk device.
