In order to check the tightness of an underground pipeline the two ends of the section to be examined are sealed off and a positive or negative pressure is created by compression or extraction of air which is converted into an electric signal and is automatically represented graphically and possibly optically as a function of time. To this effect, a piezoresistive converter (14) of pressure differential intervoltage is provided for detecting the pressure, said converter being linked with a computer (16) which operates a printer (20).
