<p>PURPOSE:To enable the effectuation of engine brake optimum for an extent of reduced speed by providing a means for judging the existence and the non- existence of a speed reduction request from a driver, and setting a target gear ratio on the basis of signals from a speed detecting means and a reduced speed detecting means when there is such a request. CONSTITUTION:When a speed reduction request has been judged as existing by a speed reduction request judgement means 101, a speed change gear ratio setting means 104 establishes the target speed change gear ratio of 105 on the basis of a speed signal from a speed detecting means 102 and a reduced speed signal from a reduced speed detecting means 103 respectively at the time of said judgement, thereby controlling the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 105 to a target value. Consequently, a driver can effectuate engine brake optimum for a desired extent of speed reduction on the basis of a vehicle's speed and the extent of speed reduction.</p> |
