PURPOSE:To provide a lubricant composed of 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol and to be applied to the surface of electric contact or sliding part of e.g. a miniature motor for magnetic tape drive, a vertically moving contact, a slide switch, a relay or a connector, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective lubricant is produced by dissolving 2-ethyl-1,3- hexanediol of formula (having a water-absorption of 4% at 40 deg.C and 90% RH under 1atm) in preferably 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol. EFFECT:The lubricant is effective in preventing abnormal abrasion or welding of sliding or contacting surface and abrasion damage caused thereby, suppressing the formation of black material to prevent contact failure and suppressing the generation of electrical noise. It has damping effect. |
