PURPOSE:To obtain the titled adhesive having specific solid concentration and viscosity, good handleability and excellent adhesivity, producible at a high speed and usable without necessitating heating after application, by mixing specific PVA, clay and a water-soluble boron compound at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective adhesive having a solid concentration of 25-60wt%, a viscosity of 200-6,000 poise (measured by B-type viscometer at 85 deg.C) and a viscosity increase ratio of 1.5-8 corresponding to the temperature decrease of 85-30 deg.C can be produced by compounding (A) 100pts.(wt.) of PVA composed of (a) 10-90pts. of PVA having a saponification degree of 72-100(mol)% and (b) 90-10pts. of PVA having a saponification degree of 2-30% with (B) 200-600pts. of clay (preferably kaolinite, etc.) and (C) 0.1-15pts. of a water-soluble boron compound (preferably boric acid, etc.). The relationship between the concentration and average polymerization degree of the component A of said adhesive as an aqueous solution is defined by formulas I-IV (P is content of the component A in the adhesive; W is water-content).
