A fortifier for epoxv resins capable of giving improved strength and modulus but without brittleness comprises the reaction product of an aromatic amide, e.g. acetanilide, and a mono- or diepoxide, the product optionally further being reacted with an isocyanate or nitrile. Epoxy resin comprising a polyepoxide and an amine curing agent and fortified by incorporating the fortifier into the resin mix before curing in an amount up to 40 parts by weight per 100 parts of resin.
