The present invention provides a disc operating unit (1) which has a simple construction and is suitable for a thin and compact design. The unit (1) according to the invention comprises a drawer (3), which fixes a disc (2) horizontally and can be moved unhindered horizontally into the unit (1) and out of it, a drive device for moving the drawer (3) into the unit (1) and out of it and also a turntable (6) for rotational driving of the disc (2). A loading device (12) moves the turntable (6) in a perpendicular direction in relation to the drawer (3) in order to load the disc (2) onto the turntable (6). <IMAGE>
