PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a programming system and also to decrease the number of processes of a programming device, by dividing a data memory into plural modules in response to the memory properties and giving a proper identification code to each module. CONSTITUTION:A data memory includes an input/output relay area 1 serving as the area of an external relay, an auxiliary relay area 2 serving as the area of an internal relay, and a flag area 3 showing various types of status. The identifiers 4(B), 5(M) and 6(F) are applied to areas 1, 2 and 3 respectively. While the addresses 000-OFF are available with all areas in each module. Then, the address of the data memory is shown by the relative address and the identifier in the module. In such a way, the properties of those areas are known by identifiers B, M and F and can be recognized easily. Thus, it is possible to improve the operability of an operator with a programming device and also to decrease the number of processings of a programming device.
