The finishing of photographic prints, characterised by coating an exposed, preferably black/white negative film (10) with a highly transparent adhesive which is compatible with the film material, drying the adhesive in such a way that a thin, stable, but still sufficiently tacky adhesive coating (12) forms, and laying gold leaf (14), silver leaf and/or similar substrate material on at least part areas of the still-tacky adhesive coating (12). The adhesive coating (12) provided with gold leaf (14) or the like can, if desired, be covered by a film (16) of plastic, paper or the like. <IMAGE>
