PURPOSE:To obtain an internal latent image type high in resolution and good in storage stability against time lapse by forming core/shell type silver halide grains having an average grain diameter of <=0.5mum and composed substantially of cubic or tetradecahedral grains. CONSTITUTION:The internal latent image type silver halide emulsion contains core/shell type silver halide grains each composed of an internal core of silver halide obtained by doping it with metallic ions or chemically sensitizing it or subjecting it to both treatments, and an outer shell obtained by coating at least the photosensitive site of the internal core. The core/shell type silver halide grains has an average grain diameter of <=0.5mum, and they are composed of cubic or tetradecahedral grains consisting mainly of (100) faces. The molar ratio of the silver halide grains in the core to those in the shell to be used is optional, but usually, a molar ratio of 1:2-10 is used. It is preferred for both grains to have the same composition, but their compositions may be different from each other. |
