PURPOSE:To provide a gas lighter the overall size of which is thin by keeping a pilot burner always ignited and igniting a large flame with this pilot burner when using the lighter. CONSTITUTION:When a little amount of gas jetting out of a jet nozzle 40 for pilot burner is ignited, the pilot burner keeps burning at the nozzle 40. When a gas amount adjusting mechanism 20 is operated by manipulating a gas jetting mechanism 50 during a lighter is used, a large amount of gas is jetted out of a gas jetting opening 21. At his time the jet nozzle 40 for the pilot burner which also works as the gas jetting opening 21 has a small amount of gas lighted in its pilot burner, and the small flame at the pilot burner becomes a large flame. Because a file and so on for ignition for lighters which are usually thick are not required, it is possible to make various parts thin and make the overall size of the gas lighter thin.
