PURPOSE:To exactly measure the compacting condition of a sand column by a method in which the amplitude of a steel tube being driven by a vibrator is detected to judge the magnitude of the amplitude. CONSTITUTION:When a part of a steel tube 2 packed with sand and driven into the ground 1 is pulled up, sand block 4 is left under the ground. When the tube 2 is then driven into the ground by a vibrator 5, the tube 2 and the vibrator 5 are integrally vibrated vertically. An electrostatic pressure proportional to the acceleration of vibration is taken out by a piezoelectric element 7 provided in a pick-up 6 fixed to the vibrator and the acceleration detected by a accelerometer 8 is amplified by an amplifier 9 to measure the acceleration of the vibration. The amplitude measured through a speed integrator 10, a displacement integrator 11, and a peak detector 12 is recorded, and the degrees of compacting condition are judged according to the magnitude of the amplitude. The compacting conditions can thus be exactly measured and displayed.
