Magnetic card

A magnetically codeable card comprises a substrate on which is supported at least two superposed magnetic recording layers, and a further magnetic shielding layer superposed on the upper recording layer, the further magnetic shielding layer having a sufficiently low coercive force as to be unsuitable for recording. A shielding layer may also be incorporated between two respective recording layers.
Manners of recording and apparatus for reading the card are disclosed.
