PURPOSE:To make it possible to adjust the temperature inside a furnace accurately and rapidly by adjusting the quantity of heat absorbed by a heat absorbing body provided in a combustion furnace. CONSTITUTION:A heat absorbing body 3 is provided in an area in a combustion furnace 1 where the furnace 1 and a combustion exhaust gas cooling section 2 are connected. The heat absorbing body 3 is formed with flow passage tubes 4 through which cooling fluid can flow, and the flow passage tubes 4 are arranged tightly in contact with one another in bending or in parallel to form a plate shaped unit body 5. A plurality of unit bodies 5 are provided with a horizontal distance among them, so that their projected faces upon the connecting face of the combustion furnace 1 and the combustion exhaust gas cooling section 2 will cover the whole of the connecting face. The cooling fluid passing through the flow passage tubes 4 is forced in its flow by connecting a fluid supply mechanism 7 to the flow passage tubes 4, and the fluid supply mechanism 7 and a heat exchanger 8 are provided in a piping 8 for recycling of the fluid. It is, therefore, possible to effect temperature adjustment for the cooling fluid, and it becomes easy to utilize the heat recovered in the cooling fluid and control temperature at the contact faces of the exhaust gas.
