PURPOSE:To enable clear and highly transparent printed images or characters to be provided on an image receiving medium without requiring any pigment dispersion step which has been conventionally carried out in the production of a hot-melt ink, by blending a specified copolymer dyed with a cationic dye as a coloring material for a hot-melt ink. CONSTITUTION:A hot-melt ink compsn. contains a copolymer of the formula, dyed with a cationic dye, as a coloring material. In the formula, R1 is H or CH3; R2 is a 12-22C satd. or unsaturated aliph. hydrocarbon group; X is H, K, Na or NH4; n is from 60mol% to 99mol% of at least one structural unit; and m is from 1mol% to 40mol% of at least one structural unit. The dyed copolymer is used in an amount of pref. 10-50pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. ink compsn. Examples of the cationic dye are conventional basic dyes and cationic dyes. |
