PURPOSE:To contemplate improvements in the resistance to corrosion of a production unit or a processing unit of a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin or metallic parts in use, by incorporating an alkaline earth metal salt in a PPS resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin compsn. is obtd. by adding an alkaline earth metal salt to the resin. Pref. 0.01-5pts.wt. alkaline earth metal salt is added to 100pts.wt. PPS resin. When the amount of the alkaline earth metal salt to be added is less than 0.01pt.wt., corrosive gases can be hardly trapped, while when the amount exceeds 5pts.wt., the moisture resistance is lowered. The compsn. may contain fillers such as glass fiber, fused silica, crystalline silica, alumina, zirconia, calcium silicate, talc, zinc white, etc. Small amounts of additives such as a colorant, a self-lubricating agent, etc. may be added.
