PURPOSE:To improve the quality and to stabilize the operation by detecting the tilt angle of a corrugated cardboard piece during its run and utilizing it for the control operation of a folding case making machine. CONSTITUTION:Three optical fiber sensors 6, 7, and 8 are embedded in a table 4 and optical fibers for projection and photodetection are incorporated therein; when light is intercepted by a passing cardboard piece 3, the light projected by the optical fiber for projection is reflected by the cardboard piece 3 and photodetected by the optical fiber for photodetection. The sensors 6 and 7 are arranged so that the connecting line between their installation positions slants to the running direction of the cardboard piece 3; and the sensors 6 and 8 are arranged so that the connecting line between their installation positions is parallel to the running direction of the cardboard piece 3. Cardboard piece passage signals of those sensors are used by computing elements 9 and 11 to compute the running speed of each cardboard 3 and the time delay of the passage signal. Further, a computing element 11 receives signals from the computing elements 9 and 10 to compute the quantity of inclination of the cardboard piece 3.
