PRODUCTION OF THERMOSETTING RESIN FOR LAMINATE

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermosetting resin for laminates excelling in electrical insulation and having heat resistance, by reacting an organopolysiloxane with an epoxy resin by heating in the presence of hydrochloric acid while blowing carbon dioxide gas into the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:An organopolysiloxane having a reactive ethoxy group is reacted with an epoxy resin having an epoxy group by heating in the presence of hydrochloric acid while carbon dioxide gas is being blown into the reaction system. The amount of hydrochloric acid used is preferably about 1.3pts.wt. per 100pts. wt. resin which takes part in the reaction. The reaction temperature is preferably 170-230 deg.C.
