PURPOSE:To simplify reinforcement of the outer end of a through pipe detachably inserted through a muffler outer cylinder by providing a flange member on a part of the through pipe projecting from the end plate of the muffler outer cylinder in order to fix the muffler outer cylinder to the through pipe with screws through the flange member. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust muffler 8 extended from the engine of a motor bicycle is provided with a cylindrical outer cylinder 10 with its inside having expansion chambers 12 partitioned by a plurality of partition walls 11... arranged coaxially. The respective partition walls 11 are provided with holes 13 in order to communicate the expansion chambers 12, 12 with each other by a through pipe 14 detachably inserted in said holes 13. The inner end of the through pipe 14 is closed and the outer periphery is provided with small holes 15, and also a flange member 18 is welded on the outer face of its part projecting outward from the end plate 16 of the outer cylinder 10 in order to reinforce the outer end of the through pipe 14. Said flange member 18 is fixed to the outer cylinder 10 by screwing a small screw 19 on a weld nut 20 mounted on the end plate 16.
