PURPOSE:To decrease the load of a host computer concerning the taking-out of a character by requesting a computer to the over the character stored into a buffer memory only when the receiving interval of an input character from a data terminal equipment exceeds a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:Each time one character is received, the resetting of a timer 14 is executed by a receiving control part 11. Consequently, while a character input is executed continuously to some extent, the overflowing of the timer 14 does not occur, and when the input of the character is interrupted for the prescribed time or above, the overflowing of the timer 14 occurs. When a transferring control part 13 supervises the presence and absence of the overflowing of the timer 14 and detects the overflowing, the part loads the interruption to a host computer 2 and requests the taking-over of the character.
