NEW MATERIAL:A naphthalene-1,4-substituted substance shown by formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> is 1-4C alkyl or benzyl). EXAMPLE:4-Benzyloxy-1-alloyloxynaphthalene. USE:A sensitizer for heat-sensitive recording materials. PREPARATION:A naphthol derivative shown by formula II is reacted with an allyl halide in an organic solvent in the presence of a basic substance to give a naphthalene-1,4-substituted substance shown by formula I. An aprotic polar solvent is preferable as the organic solvent.
