PURPOSE:To improve accelerating performance by providing a connecting passage for introducing the discharge side of an accelerating pump to a float chamber and a closing valve which is opened at the time determined in accordance with the operating condition of an engine when accelerating, in said connecting passage. CONSTITUTION:The pressurizing chamber of an accelerating pump 5 which has a piston 5a connected to an intake throttle valve 2 by means of a link mechanism 11, is connected to the float chamber of a carburetor 4 via an inlet valve 7 which is opened when the piston 5a is lifted up, while also connected to a pump nozzle 8 provided in a venturi part 3 through a connecting passage 9 via an outlet valve 10 which is opened when the piston 5a is lowered. Another connecting passage 21 is branched from the connecting passage 9, and connected to the upper part of the float chamber via a closing valve 22. The closing valve 22 is controlled in such a way that when the accelerating condition of an engine is detected, it is opened at the time which is determined in accordance with the operating condition at that time, by means of a controlling device 23.
