PURPOSE:To strongly combine the end part of a hollow shaft with a resiliency and diameter expansion and to improve and stabilize the quality of the titled product by bulging the hollow shaft fitted to a die with the outer-fitting of a shaft end member to both end parts by fitting in a cam piece, after expanding the hollow shaft by swaging in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The dies 20, 21 are fixed with the engagement by the pressing of die holders 22, 23, by fitting shaft end members 4, 5 into the upper and lower dies 20, 21 with the outer-fitting of the members 4, 5 to both end parts, by fitting in a cam piece 3 and journal piece 6 to the hollow shaft 2 in the prescribed length. The cam piece 3 and journal piece 6 are provisionally fixed as well as the sealing is sufficiently performed by closely fitting a shaft end 15 by expanding the hollow shaft 2 with its swaging by pressing the shaft end members 4, 5 with the shaft end presser 25 with an oil pressure filler hole 26 and the shaft end presser 24 inserted from both ends. The hollow shaft 2 including annular recessed part 14 is sufficiently fitted with the expansion by applying the oil pressure on the hollow shaft 2 in succession. The hollow shaft 2 end part is strongly combined with sealing to the shaft end members 4, 5 by its resiliency and diameter expansion and the quality of the assembly cam shaft 1 is improved.
