PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the simultaneous occurrence of plural types of the pilot signal by recording plural types of the mutually different pilot signal type by type to an adjoining track together with an information signal. CONSTITUTION:Pilot signals f1-f4 to occur in parallel from a pilot signal generating device 106 are supplied to a changing-over circuit 108. The changing-over circuit 108 generates a pilot signal in the sequence of f1 f2 f3 f4 by four logical levels of 60 PG and a rectangular wave signal to 1/2-frequency-divide this. the pilot signal from the changing-over circuit 108 is supplied to a gate circuit 109 to gate so as to be recorded to an adjoining track. The gated pilot signal is supplied through a switch 110 and a switch 111 to turn on at the time of recording to respective heads HA-HF and recorded by the time division together with an audio signal and a video signal.
