The invention relates to the pumping of highly viscous matter. It provides a vane 15 pump 1 in which the orifices 16, 17, 26, 28 for the passage of the pumped matter are widely dimensioned and in which the clearances, in particular around the rod 14 which carries the vane 15, are large. The invention applies to the pumping of matter of the type based on butyl rubber and/or on polyisobutylene, and generally of matter having a viscosity greater than 35,000 poise (3,500 Pa.s). <IMAGE>
