PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily attach a windshield pane guide device in an automobile door without any skillful technique being required, by providing such a method that a carrier plate for a windshield pane is temporarily attached to a guide rail which is then secured inside of the door, and further the windshield pane is coupled to the carrier plate before the temporary attachment is released. CONSTITUTION:After a front carrier plate 14 is slid along a guide rail 9 to a position where engaging holes 27, 28 are opposed to each other, the carrier plate 14 is temporarily attached to the guide rail 9 with the use of a temporary attachment grip 29. A rear carrier plate is beforehand set at a predetermined position. Then, a window regulator 4 is inserted in a door 1 with its entirety, and upper and lower support plates 9, 10 are secured to the inner panel 2 of the door through upper and lower access holes 6. Further, the windshield pane 4 is inserted and fastened to the carrier plate 14 with a bolt 26, and then the temporary attachment grip 29 is removed. With this arrangement it is possible to easily attach the windshield guide device without any skillful technique being required.
