PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in productivity, by making a chain conveyor and a pallet detachable and vice versa, while installing a pallet turning mechanism, being free of movement, between reciprocating passages of a transfer line, and altering the effective length of the conveyor according to the number of pallets. CONSTITUTION:A pallet turning mechanism 19 is placed in a position suitable to the shortest conveying passage for circulating the number of pallets required for operation. Net, a pallet 8 is mounted on a conveyor 3 in order and a connection metal device 15 at the pallet side is engaged with a connecting metal device 5 at the chain side. When the pallet 8 enters a return passage 15b and reaches an end of the pallet turning mechanism 19, the connecting metal device 5 comes into contact with the cam plate 18 placed at a precorresponding position whereby engagement when the connecting metal device 4 is disengaged. Simultaneously pallet turning arms 10 and 11 start to enter a guide rail 20 of the turning mechanism 19, and thereby an arm 22 is driven so that this turning arm 10 is pressed and turned as far as 180 deg., thus the pallet is mounted on an outward passage 15a. Therefore, conveying passage length of the pallet is alterable to some extent so that it can be set to the number of pallets according to a production lot, thus productivity is improvable.
