PURPOSE:To obtain a manufacturing method by which the heat loss is made as small as possible and a molded body excellent in fusion-bonding property of particles in its interior, by a method wherein liquid is introduced in molds so as to exhaust the gas existing among the particles and, after the liquid is discharged, heating steam is introduced so as to expand the particles by heating to weld them for molding. CONSTITUTION:Foaming particles consisting of ethylene-propylene random copolymer under compressed state are packed in the cavity C of a molding equipment. Hot water with a temperature of 97 deg.C in a storage tank D is forcibly supplied by means of a pump P in the steam chambers of molds A and B. The hot liquid forcibly enters in among the foaming particles in the cavity C, discharges the gas among the particles, fills the whole interior of the molds and overflows through a gas discharging port 8 so as to flow back to the storage tank D and to raise the temperature of the interior of the molds up to nearly 97 deg.C. After the hot liquid is recovered to the storage tank D, steam supply valves 5 and 5' are open so as to raise the steam pressure in the molds up to 4.5kg/cm<2> by gage (nearly 155 deg.C) and to heat for about 15sec. After that, the steam supply valves 5 and 5' are closed and hot liquid discharging valves 10 and 10' are opened so as to release the pressure from the molds. In succession, the discharging valves 10 and 10' are closed and drain valves 6 and 6' and cooling water supply valves 7 and 7' are opened so as to cool the interior of the molds. Finally, the molds A and B are opened in order to obtain a molded part faithful to the shape of the cavity C. |
